Canyonlands National Park

Photos from Canyonlands National Park. We arrived in the dark, to see the sunrise on Mesa Arch, so we were in the park when it closed. We were permitted to stay as long as wanted to, that day. We intended to leave the park after sunrise, but we had to stay, so we didn't have breakfast until 4pm. We also hiked out on a "fin" into the canyon.

Arches National Park

Delicate Arch in Arches National Park, at sunset. About 200 people were there taking photos. The long climb to the arch, on a rough uphill trail over stone, is grueling, and the walk back to the over-flow parking lot is mostly in dark dusk. It is painful to walk now.

game of chancemobile

We saw (but didn't play) this "game of chancemobile" at the Illinois Tollway Belvidere Oasis. The faux Volkswagon had five opportunities to lose your money trying to pick up or push objects of various values. Note the relative sizes of the slot in the plastic panel and the tip on the end of the plunger. The plunger moves horizontally and vertically via push buttons.

Flooding in Colorado

Flooding in Colorado, along I-76 between Nebraska and northeast of Denver. We saw hotels and restaurants with flood water next to the rear wall of the buildings. A relative's work parking lot was flooded and all employees lost their vehicles.

Amish Country Balloon Festival
