Eastern State Penitentiary

Eastern State Penitentiary was built in Philadelphia, PA, in 1822-1836. The building, with cellblocks like the spokes of a wheel, became a model for over 300 prisons worldwide. It was closed in 1971. Longwood Gardens Orchid Extravaganza

Iguana photo is a ribbon winner

My photo of an Iguana, taken in the Galapagos Islands, won a third place ribbon in the February competition of the Chester County Camera Club. The category was "Ugly but beautiful".

Savannah, Georgia

We went through Historic District, including Factors Walk, numerous squares, and the Historic Colonial Park Cemetery. More than 700 victims of the 1820 Yellow Fever epidemic are buried in Colonial Park Cemetery. The cemetery was already closed to burials before the start of the Civil War and no Confederate soldiers are buried there. Walking along the river, in Factors Walk, provides a good view of the Talmadge Memorial cable-stayed bridge.

The Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, also known as the New Cooper River Bridge, is a cable-stayed bridge over the Cooper River in Charleston, South Carolina. The bridge is eight lanes. The bridge has a main span of 1,546 feet (471 m), the third longest among cable-stayed bridges in the Western Hemisphere. It was built using the design-build method and was designed by Parsons Brinckerhoff.

St. Michael's Anglican Church in Charleston, South Carolina

St. Michael's Anglican Church is an historic church and the oldest surviving religious structure in Charleston, South Carolina. It is located at Broad and Meeting streets. The church building was completed in 1761.

I am impressed with the design of the North Carolina rest area building.
